Case Studies
For one of the largest US MSOs, CSMG analyzed
potential backbone network options. These included continuing
to rely on existing IP transit arrangements combined with
leasing capacity on major routes, building a backbone network
that would be largely operated by the MSO itself, and outsourcing
all aspects of IP backbone activity to another carrier. TMNG
assessed each alternative in the light of key market assumptions
such as customer growth, customer capacity requirements, new
services, price points over time, peering issues and so on.
We modeled each option, benchmarking key variables in the
process, and determined which offered the best financial outcome
for our client.
For a European PTT acquiring a mobile operator,
CSMG developed a post-merger strategy for an integrated fixed
and mobile business model. The team devised a unique business
model and brand strategy to leverage the strength of the fixed
incumbent while allowing the acquired mobile operator flexibility
to continue exploiting its current growth strategy. CSMG developed
product offers, a new network sourcing and management approach,
a handset sourcing plan, a sales and marketing approach and
a distribution strategy for the new integrated business unit.
